Year 5 and 6 had an amazing time at the Jorvik Viking Centre and Jorvik DIG! We travelled back in time on the ride, experiencing the sights—and smells!—of Viking York. We even watched coins being made just like they were over 1,000 years ago!
At DIG, we got hands-on with history, uncovering artefacts and taking part in a battle tactics workshop—learning how Vikings fought to defend their land!
What a fantastic way to bring history to life! 🔥

Over the week we will develop our poetry writing skills and will write a poem ready to share it with the rest of the school at Harvest Festival on Monday. We had a wonderful time identifying seeds and herbs, baking our own bread and making a chocolate lollypop! A huge thank you to York Food Festival and all of the family volunteers who helped this trip run smoothly.

What a day it was for our children yesterday with the Staff vs Year 6 netball match! It was a fantastic event full of intense competitiveness and a gruelling workout for us teachers. It was tricky trying to get the ball past Mr Laycock and Jonathan but they managed to score a few goals. Although the children tried their best, the staff took no prisoners and won 20 something- 6. Better luck next time, Year 6!

Today, a talented sand sculptor visited our school! We watched in awe as he created an amazing sand sculpture, step by step. The final result was truly spectacular, and the students had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about his process and techniques.

The children cut the flowers, examined the different parts, and identified their roles in plant reproduction. The class really enjoyed taking part in this practical science work!

The last Chapter was called, `Filling in the Holes,` which left the reader to guess what happened next. The children had some fantastic ideas and produced some great work which was beautifully presented. #dringuks2 #dringreading #dringcurious
