UKS2 had a wonderful afternoon learning about the heart linked to our science topic of `The Circulatory System`. The children recreated the pumping of the heart using jars, balloons and straws before using drama to act out the movement of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood around the body.

Last week, Year 3 and 4 had the opportunity to visit York Food Festival!
We had a wonderful time identifying seeds and herbs, baking our own bread and making a chocolate lollypop! A huge thank you to York Food Festival and all of the family volunteers who helped this trip run smoothly.

Today, #Dring10 started their new computing unit of `Word Processing`. The children learnt all about how to use Google Docs, how to format their work, and ways of adding images to their document. They also considered copyright rules when adding their images. The children produced their own amazing `All About Me` documents, which were a pleasure to read.

We looked at the skeletons of animals and used our enquiry skills to classify them in our teams. We then made observations about the classifications other groups had done.

What a day it was for our children yesterday with the Staff vs Year 6 netball match! It was a fantastic event full of intense competitiveness and a gruelling workout for us teachers. It was tricky trying to get the ball past Mr Laycock and Jonathan but they managed to score a few goals. Although the children tried their best, the staff took no prisoners and won 20 something- 6. Better luck next time, Year 6!

Today, we received a delivery of brand new books from our book fair commission money. We have stocked up lots of books for our new whole school reading spine for September and added some fabulous ones to the library based on the children`s requests. The children in #Dring10 loved getting a sneak peek today!
