Teaching Assistant Level 4 (HLTA)

32.5hpw, Fixed Term Contract until August 2026

Grade 7 Level 1-4 (£29,230 to £31,391 per annum) TERM TIME ONLY, reduced pro-rata

We’re seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 4 (HLTA) to join our dynamic team at Dringhouses Primary School!

As a HLTA, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. You’ll work closely with teachers and students, providing essential support and guidance. You’ll be someone who understands the importance of building secure, caring and trusting relationships – encouraging and modelling resilience, growth and repair.  As well as someone who can keep up with the demands of busy and adventurous learners.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting Learning: Assisting teachers with classroom activities, providing individual or small group support to students, and helping to create a focused learning atmosphere. 
  • Maintaining a Positive Environment: Supervising students, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring a safe and inclusive classroom.
  • Providing Practical Assistance: Preparing resources, setting up equipment, and assisting with classroom administrative tasks.
  • Building Relationships: Developing positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Providing cover: Supervising the classroom during teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Supporting inclusive learning: helping children with special educational needs to fully access the curriculum.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a relevant Level 4 TA qualification or equivalent
  • Has experience working with children (preferably in an educational setting).
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is patient, adaptable, and resourceful.
  • Is able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
  • Has a good level of literacy and numeracy.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am until 15:30pm and includes a daily 30 minute lunch time duty. 

This is a term time only contract which will start in May 2025, or as soon thereafter and will continue until August 2026.  There is a possibility that this contract may become permanent at the end of this fixed term period.
