After seeing The Great Wave at York Art Gallery yesterday, Year 5 and 6 took inspiration from Hokusai`s famous artwork and created their own wave paintings using watercolours. 🖌️

Today Class 10 visited York Art Gallery to see the famous Great Wave off Kanagawa 🌊 We explored the gallery and museum, discovering lots of inspiring artwork along the way. We had opportunities to sketch some of the art and even created our own block prints of ‘The Great Wave’.

Today we stepped back in time and cooked the legendary Woolton Pie from WWII! The children worked brilliantly together to make their own pastry, peel and chop the vegetables and prepare their pies from scratch.
We even made a gluten-free and dairy-free version-so talented! What a fantastic mix of history and cooking skills.

Unfortunately the pies took a long time to cook in the oven so they will be tasting them tomorrow. I`m sure they can`t wait to eat all those veggies! 🥧🥕🥔😋

We had an absolutely brilliant time playing these games together and the children all managed to learn the rules by themselves. Key Stage 2 had the biggest treat this afternoon with a wonderful performance of `When Robins Appear` by @nextdoorbutone Theatre. The accessible show was all about two friends who faced big changes like moving house, starting new schools, and a first Christmas without Grandma. With the help of a magical robin, the children looked at their favourite joyful winter memories. The acting was superb, the set was incredibly clever, the songs were catchy, and our children were just captivated.
One child came out from the performance and said, `That was the best thing I have ever seen.` What absolute joy!
A huge thank you to Next Door But One Theatre for their fantastic show- we will remember this for a very long time ❤️🎄

Class 6 loved our Ancient Egyptian workshop today. It was great to show off the learning with done so far in our topic and to dig deeper to learn more.

#Dring10 enjoyed taking part in a drama lesson on Wednesday last week. They took on different roles from our core text `A Wrinkle in Time` and interviewed each other about their thoughts and feelings. All of the ideas shared today will be used in the children’s newspaper reports next week.

Your determination, resilience, teamwork and kindness was outstanding. Every adult we spoke to at Bewerley had nothing but great things to say about you all.
