Today, your children kicked off their learning with an exciting deep dive into the Romans and their lasting legacy! What a day it was for our children yesterday with the Staff vs Year 6 netball match! It was a fantastic event full of intense competitiveness and a gruelling workout for us teachers. It was tricky trying to get the ball past Mr Laycock and Jonathan but they managed to score a few goals. Although the children tried their best, the staff took no prisoners and won 20 something- 6. Better luck next time, Year 6!

They also created their own freeze frames based on their learning. The trail can be done from 1st August across York and our children are keen to share their knowledge!

The last Chapter was called, `Filling in the Holes,` which left the reader to guess what happened next. Most of the children had never heard of a triathlon before but they swam, cycled and ran their way to the finish line with huge grins on their faces. It was a joy to see the determination the children had to achieve a goal and how proud they were at the end.

#Dring10 enjoyed some drama in their English lesson yesterday. The children worked in groups to imagine what would happen next in one of our chapters of `Holes` by Louis Sachar. They had some incredible, creative ideas and acted in role with brilliant accents and body movements. We were so impressed with the creative stories and teamwork!

#Dring10 enjoyed some drama in their English lesson yesterday. The children worked in groups to imagine what would happen next in one of our chapters of `Holes` by Louis Sachar. They had some incredible, creative ideas and acted in role with brilliant accents and body movements. We were so impressed with the creative stories and teamwork!

What an amazing team we had this week helping us repair the tennis racquets by learning to regrip them! This group were 100% #dringcurious when they saw Miss Eames getting started and offered their help. They should be incredibly proud of what they achieved - ensuring even better tennis sessions this term for the whole of KS2!

Maths was super fun today as Year 5s played guess who - shape edition. Their tasks were to figure out each other`s shapes from faces, edges and vertices. Year 6s had to work together to figure out which 2 Halves of a shapes net went together.

Book club in #Dring10 today was so much fun with the children sharing their ideas for sequels to their favourite books. Ideas included a sequel to The 3 Little Pigs where the wolf was actually under the influence of a mysterious dark force and teams up with the pigs, and a sequel to The Dictionary where `only fun words remain`. The children shared their incredibly imaginative ideas and loved thinking about how they could even write their sequels. A great discussion was had by all! Happy World Book Day ...and what a great day it was! UKS2 focused on `The Book of Mythical Beasts and Magical Creatures` and learnt about creatures of the air, land and sea. We did a STEM investigation on flying with Miss Eames, orienteering to solve puzzles with Mr Field and made creatures of our own using our computing skills with Mrs Skidmore. We finished the day by reading with our house groups. A brilliant effort all round on outfits as well - thank you!

Today we did some geography fieldwork. We thought about questions we might ask about the local area and made tally charts. We surveyed the area and mapped the use of buildings. We then thought about what changes might be positive or negative to our local area.
