Monoprinting, who knew we had some many experts in Class 6? I`ve been blown away by the work they have produced, they did so much better than my example! Today we focused on the skills we will need to make our final prints the best they can be tomorrow.

Batch number 2 of #Dring10`s fabulous visit to Jorvik Viking Centre and DIG. After the workshop, the children visited Jorvik to enjoy the fabulous recreation of York during the Viking times (including realistic smells). They then visited the exhibition where they met a Viking villager and coin maker. We had such a brilliant trip that has really inspired our history learning.

The children had the chance to hold the different weapons and learn about the ways in which the Vikings used them. It was such an engaging and interesting workshop!

Year 5 and 6 put their oracy skills to the test in drama today! We worked together, sharing ideas using phrases like "I agree...", "I think we should...", and "Building on that..." to develop our scenes.

Class 7 had art last week, creating incredible prints inspired by Ancient Mayan art work. Mayans would carve stories and intricate patterns into their sculptures and developed ways to record stories of their God`s and leaders through art too. Well done everyone!

Year 5 and 6 had an amazing time at the Jorvik Viking Centre and Jorvik DIG! We travelled back in time on the ride, experiencing the sights—and smells!—of Viking York. We even watched coins being made just like they were over 1,000 years ago!
At DIG, we got hands-on with history, uncovering artefacts and taking part in a battle tactics workshop—learning how Vikings fought to defend their land!

Today in Science, we explored the fascinating world of blood and its four main components! 🩸 Using everyday items, the students created jars representing blood, complete with red and white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. UKS2 had a wonderful afternoon learning about the heart linked to our science topic of `The Circulatory System`. The children recreated the pumping of the heart using jars, balloons and straws before using drama to act out the movement of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood around the body.

Following this, they created a `Blackout Poem` by selecting words that they felt were important to make a new poem. The children then added an image to black out the rest of the words. We had a visit from Jez and Paulette from Google today who were very impressed with our knowledge about e-safety. We brushed up on our skills for keeping ourselves safe and reminded ourselves of the Be Internet Legends Pledge!
