The children learnt about what a trailblazer is before solving riddles linked to 17 trailblazers from York such as Mary Tuke and Annie Coutlate. They also created their own freeze frames based on their learning. The trail can be done from 1st August across York and our children are keen to share their knowledge!

Most of the children had never heard of a triathlon before but they swam, cycled and ran their way to the finish line with huge grins on their faces. It was a joy to see the determination the children had to achieve a goal and how proud they were at the end.

Maths was super fun today as Year 5s played guess who - shape edition. Their tasks were to figure out each other`s shapes from faces, edges and vertices. Year 6s had to work together to figure out which 2 Halves of a shapes net went together.

Book club in #Dring10 today was so much fun with the children sharing their ideas for sequels to their favourite books. Ideas included a sequel to The 3 Little Pigs where the wolf was actually under the influence of a mysterious dark force and teams up with the pigs, and a sequel to The Dictionary where `only fun words remain`. The children shared their incredibly imaginative ideas and loved thinking about how they could even write their sequels. A great discussion was had by all! Happy World Book Day ...and what a great day it was! UKS2 focused on `The Book of Mythical Beasts and Magical Creatures` and learnt about creatures of the air, land and sea. We did a STEM investigation on flying with Miss Eames, orienteering to solve puzzles with Mr Field and made creatures of our own using our computing skills with Mrs Skidmore. We finished the day by reading with our house groups. A brilliant effort all round on outfits as well - thank you!

The children learnt all about rationing, morse code, Enigma, and the Home Front. They used their own machines to create morse code and decipher it and cracked an Enigma coded message. More pics to follow!

The children had to follow a set of design rules as well as a strict budget. They collaborated well with each other and presented their final designs back to the class.

Today in English we... played games. Don`t worry it was completely educational! We looked at instructions and what happens is instructions aren`t accurate. We looked at how to follow instructions to play new games and games we THOUGHT we knew how to play - well I didn`t realise they were the rules. Turns out instructions are REALLY important to follow...so don`t throw them away!
