The primary PE and sport premium 2024 to 2025 (“the premium”) will be paid by the Secretary of State for Education (“Secretary of State”) to the local authority (“authority”). The authority will then distribute the premium to maintained schools in its area as stated in Section 14 of the Education Act 2002. In accordance with Section 16 of that Act, the Secretary of State lays down the following terms and conditions on which financial assistance is given in relation to the premium payable for the academic year 2024 to 2025.
Find out more about the PE and Sport Premium funding for primary schools.
The premium for the 2024 to 2025 academic year is paid in 2 instalments from the Secretary of State to the authority as follows:
Financial year |
2024 to 2025 academic year | Payment date |
2024 to 2025 | September 2024 to March 2025 | 31 October 2024 |
2024 to 2025 | April 2025 to August 2025 |
30 April 2025 |
The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.
There are five key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across:
For example, schools can use the funding to:
Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil.
Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
Based on the January 2024 census: amount allocated to Dringhouses 2024/2025 = £18,625 (paid in two lump sums)
