Filled with rich and engaging activities

Key Stage 1

In KS1 we continue to build on our love of learning through a rich, creative and broad curriculum. The intention of our KS1 curriculum is that children will become proficient, confident and highly successful in the acquisition and application of fundamental key skills as well as develop in their personal, social and emotional education.  This is implemented through a wealth of opportunities and experiences linked to engaging, thought provoking and exciting learning projects. The foundations for learning are embedded and as a result of the KS1 curriculum children continue to grow into successful learners, developing a sense of pride, determination and resilience within the supportive school community. Below you will see a flavour of the learning that takes place in KS1, but it you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Angela Skidmore, KS1 leader, via the school office.

Learning Projects

Throughout KS1, our Discovery Units operate on a two year rolling programme. This is to ensure that we provide a rich, engaging and broad curriculum that meets all of the National Curriculum knowledge requirements as well as our skills progression grids for subject to ensure inspiring, challenging and progressive learning opportunities for all children. Below you will see many of our learning project presentations which show you how the Key Stage 1 curriculum is explored, implemented and embedded.

For the teaching of phonics, we follow the FFT Success for All Scheme. Please see the long term plan and overview below.
